In Lent, we seek to make our prayer, fasting, and almsgiving an offering of "firstfruits," recognition of our total dependence on God. As you begin this season of Lent, take care to choose practices that will be reminders of your dependence on God. Consider focusing on prayers of thanksgiving and praise as well as sacrifices that acknowledge God's abundant gifts.
